Powerhouse Trailer

The Powerhouse Trailer provides a convenient, external space for your own solar system. It is designed to let you build and use your own solar system a safe distance away from your home.

Some of the many advantages of an external system are:

  1. The system’s batteries are located outside your home, so you don’t have to worry about hazards such as fumes and acid inside your living space.
  2. The solar panels are located away from your home, so you don’t have to worry about leaks caused by solar panel installation or about someone stepping through your ceiling while running wires in your attic.
  3. The system is mobile. You can easily change locations, either to a different position on your property or to another site altogether.

The Powerhouse Trailer allows you to build your own solar system or have a local solar contractor build it. You will be able to try different configurations and learn the best combination for your specific application. This will give you the best value in a solar system that will allow you to generate almost all of the electricity you use.

Specifications:

The Powerhouse is a monopitch roof trailer. The roof angle is optimized for maximum solar electric production at your latitude. The roof area is designed to accommodate a 1000 watt solar array. The array is typically eight Kyocera KC-130 panels, or eight Mitsubishi 110 watt panels. The Powerhouse Trailer features a unitized frame structure that maximizes system strength for carrying heavy deep cycle batteries. It complies with all DOT requirements and can be towed with a pickup.

Siding: T-1-11 siding is standard, but other options may be ordered to match your home. The system comes primed with Kilz white paint. The unit may be painted your choice of available colors for an additional charge.

Floor System: Steel crossmembers are placed 12” on the center to carry the weight of up to 16 L-16 batteries. This gives you plenty of battery capacity for a mid-sized solar system. The Powerhouse is designed to carry the weight. even when towing the unit over rough terrain.

Wire Raceways: The Powerhouse includes panduit wire raceways so that your wiring looks neat and professional.

Ventilation: A floor-mounted vent and a gable vent are matched to provide efficient ventilation. The included 120 volt long-life fan keeps the system cool and ventilated.

Pricing:

The trailer will allow you to build your own system or have your local solar dealer build a system to your specifications.

Pricing on the trailer alone, including ventilation system and carpeting over the ¾” treated plywood floor: $2995 plus delivery ($1/mile from Deford, MI)

Add $150 for custom color exterior.
